Sushruta Samhita
Sushruta Samhita is Sanskrit text on Surgery attributed to Sushruta, a historical Physician of 6th century B.C.E. Varanasi. Sushruta Samhita Comprises 184 chapter, 1120 illnesses, 700 medicinal planta, 64 preparation of mineral sources and 57 based on animal sources.
The Text Discusses Surgical Technique of making incision, probing, extraction of foreinbodies alkali and thermal cauterization. Tooth extraction, excision and trochar for draining abscesses, draining hydrocele and ascetic fluid, removal of prostate gland, urethral stricture dilatation, vesicololithotomy, hydrocele and ascetic fluid, removal of prostate gland, urethral stricture dilatation, vesicololithotomy, Hernia surgery, L.S.C.S. management of herorrhoids and fistula, Laparotomy, and management of intestinal obstructions, perforated intestine and accidental perforation of abdomen with protrusion omentum and principle of fracture management viz traction manipulation opposition and stabilization including some measures of rehabilitation and fitting of prosthetics.
